TREATMENTS

All castings produced in SAFAS are submitted to heat treatment to give them higher mechanical properties,remove microfractures and casting deformations due to surface tensions suffered during the cooling step of the steel poured in the mould. A fundamental step to guarantee a casting of superior quality to send to mechanical rough and finish machinings.

Eight electronically controlled furnaces guarantee the highest control level; each heat treatment can be performed also in controlled atmosphere. Two tanks enable to perform quenching heat treatments in water and oil.

SAFAS performs different heat treatment operations:

• Annealing
• Normalizing
• Stress relieving
• Quenching in forced air, water or oil
• Tempering
• Hardening and tempering
